Need a break from the Großstadt? We feel you. Really. We’ve put together some beautiful escapes for you. In just a few hours you’ll have forgotten you live in a city - yes that’s a promise. And we’re confident that you’ll enjoy the hustle and bustle about town even more when you come back oh-so-relaxed.
‘Treibholz’ means driftwood. Here at Lychener Oberpfuhlsee, you can rent a variety of vessels and float aimlessly through the Uckermark and Mecklenburg lake district. There are kayaks for one and canoes for 10. There are stand-up paddle boards. There are even rafts for groups of 10-100 people (with catering), as well as scheduled raft trips. You can also feel good while you do it: Treibholz is a partner of Naturally Uckermark, a network of sustainable tourism providers.
Nature lovers and bird watchers will find paradise in the Nuthe-Nieplitz Nature Park. Sea eagles and ospreys, tree falcons, great egrets and many other bird species have made their homes here. The swamp forests are picturesque, while the kids will love the imposing sand dune formed by a former military training area.
Over 200km of the finest asphalt waits for your wheels here. Whether you cycle or rollerblade, speed or push a Laufrad, this is heaven (and a nice break from Berlin’s cobbles). It’s well laid out, with circular routes for every skill level. Recharge afterwards at ‘Roggenkönig’ in Gutshaus Petkus. This family-friendly skate hotel offers fresh regional dishes and homemade cakes: plus beds for the night with space for bikes and trailers, as well as a large playground for the kids (how they’re still going we have no idea).
